Industrial design for fire alarm systems

In continuation of a successful collaboration with Bolid company Smirnov Design experts have developed design and construction of a new product – a control and indicating alarm device “Signal-20M”.

The design and form of the new product depend on the interior construction and the dimensions of the elements on the panel. Besides, the design managed to compensate a not very successful from the aesthetic point of view volume distribution: small volume below and large volume above predetermined by high concentration of large constructive panel elements in the upper part. Now the product looks harmonious and solid featuring a well thought-over and intuitive ergonomic keyboard.

Among the design peculiarities of the new product one can name also a successful use of additional elements and graphics to optimize the user’s work with the information stored in the device. The panel offers a rather large amount of usage variations which in the case of extreme urgency may become critical. That is why our designers have suggested and created such important details as an extracting instructions panel in case the operator cannot define at once what button should be pressed in this or that situation. Another element meant to facilitate the usage of the device is optical diodes alongside every button. Their introduction is also aimed at making the device as more intuitive as possible.

As in many of the projects Smirnov Design experts have suggested technically weighed solutions allowing the employment of different user interfaces with one and the same constructive part as well as several variants of the product in one casing. The construction provides easy removal and firm fixing of the front panel with regard to many wires of the alarm system. Moreover, the construction is enhanced to avoid undesirable pressure on the casing.
