Demo device
The UniTap technology main idea is to refuse a usual symbol input through pressing one button and substitute it with inputting through pressing adjacent mini-buttons. All in all, the created device has 63 such buttons providing functioning 48 symbols. This allowed, preserving all the advantages of a regular keyboard, to reduce an input panel up to by 16 times.
The necessity of minimizing products under modern technologies conditions aimed at manufacturing even more compact goods, is evident. Nevertheless, to create such a product, studio's professionals had to try several variants of the device, - it underwent alterations even at the stage of a complete product. Creating a unique rubber mat with 63 mini-buttons, gaps and travel of which were thoroughly checked, became the biggest concern. At the first stage a small series of complete products with the intervals providing the maximum comfort by selecting a symbol within a panel with very small sizes was manufactured in China.
After the designed by SmirnovDesign device had been accepted by RL Technologies (see www.unitap.net), a small lot of it was molded in silicone.
