Russia: industrial design issues will be solved at the highest national level

Today, when production capacities of the Russian economy are gaining pace the interest towards industrial design resonates on the national level. Thus, Government of Russia approved “Concepts of industrial design development in Russia up to 2008”. Smirnov Design Group was invited to prepare this document as one of the leading experts in the industry.

One of the first steps aimed at concept realization is the creation of an expert committee on the issues of product design at Ministry of Industry and Energy Sector of Russian Federation. Two sessions of the committee took place already – entitled “Product design development in automobile industry” and “Product design prospects in Health Care and Medical Industry”. At both sessions Smirnov Design Group specialists made short talks and presentations dedicated to the problems of Russian industrial design.

In the nearest future an expert committee aiming at inspecting state resolutions in the area of industrial design on the whole will be created by the order of the Minister. This committee will include experts representing all the parties in interest: design studios, technical and artistic construction workshops, state regulators, enterprises, scientific institutions, consumers, different public organizations and associations.
