Smirnov Design Group at the Russian Ministry of Industry and Energy’s Committee session on innovative product design for health care and medical industry

On October 11, a Russian Ministry of Industry and Energy Sector’s Expert Committee session on the issues of Product Design in Health Care and Medical Industry took place. Smirnov Design Group’s President Sergey Smirnov and one of the leading designers of the company Vyacheslav Bondarev made a speech at the session.

The session was preceded by an on-line discussion of the following questions:

1.What role does design play in the matter of increasing the competitiveness of Russian medical industry products?
2.What is the level of product design development in Russian medical industry?
3.Which of the best methods of designing and promoting new products that are used by other countries’ manufacturers of medical equipment can be realized for the development of this country’s industry?
4.May industrial design become one of the components of the national Health Care program?

In their presentation dedicated to the preparatory research in designing complex medical equipment Sergey Smirnov and Vyacheslav Bondarev told about different aspects of the work that precedes the actual creation of product design. Such important work stages as gathering and analyzing the information, modeling situations, writing usage scenarios are essential to define a clear and precise new product design. These stages become especially relevant when designing medical equipment.
