"Factory of thought" in our company

In March TVCentre channel launched a project called "Factory of thought" whose participants introduced their inventions in different fields for the contest. In the course of this project SmirnovDesign was addressed by one of the 12 contestants whose ideas were selected by the jury as most worthy, Alexander Parfenov, a Russian scientist, who had developed an interesting method of estimating the vessels elasticity and showing the state of the patient's cardiovascular system.

SmirnovDesign experts were asked to develop the design of the device that originally consisted of a laptop, a plastic box with plug connections and two black sensing units to be set on fingers. The project had a very tight schedule (only a little over a month), but the company's designers addressed the issue very seriously and began the work with research, examination of the rpocess of diagnostics and analysis of technical possibilities. Basing on the results of this stage it was decided to change the product concept dramatically making a small device without wires and external sensors. Then SmirnovDesign's specialists made an additional ergonomic research and built a clay prototype. Only after that began the stage of sketches and 3D models. Our experts developed three different designs each of which corresponded to the requirements determined earlier.

At the same time electronic components were developed and at one of the meetings our client confirmed the design he liked the most and provided us with almost finished components.

At the final stage SmirnovDesign's specialists thoroughly modelled the device's construction and its electronic components and after that we built a polyimide prototype that was assembled with ease and after painting became undistinguishable from final product.

Every Sunday we followed the destiny of our product at "Factory of thought" show. We were very excited about it and sure that it will be in the final. That was what happened. In May the final show was transmitted where the winner was announced live. The title of the best invention was granted to the device designed and assembled by SmirnovDesign.

We congratulate our friend Alexander Parfenov on this victory and remain proud to have contributed to this achievement.
